Structural Surveys & Home Inspections — London & Essex
Noticed cracks in your walls? Doors that won't close properly? Worried about buying a property with hidden problems? We carry out detailed structural surveys that tell you exactly what's going on — and what to do about it.
What we inspect
- Cracking in walls, ceilings, and around openings
- Signs of subsidence or foundation movement
- Roof and chimney stack condition
- Damp, timber decay, and moisture damage
- Structural alterations done without proper design
- Bowing or leaning walls
What you get
- A written report explaining the findings in plain English
- Photos documenting every issue we find
- Our assessment of severity — is it cosmetic or structural?
- Recommended repairs, with rough cost guidance where possible
- Monitoring advice if the issue needs watching before acting
When do you need a structural survey?
- Buying a home — a standard homebuyer's report flagged structural concerns, or you want peace of mind before exchanging.
- Cracks appeared — new or worsening cracks in walls, especially diagonal cracks near windows or doors.
- Planning renovations — you want to understand the condition before investing in an extension or loft conversion.
- Insurance or legal needs — your insurer or solicitor has asked for a structural engineer's opinion.
- Previous alterations — walls removed or work done without Building Control sign-off, and you need to understand the impact.
Structural Survey FAQs
- How long does a survey take? Most residential surveys take 1–2 hours on site. You'll have the report within a week.
- Is it different from a homebuyer's survey? Yes — we focus specifically on the structure. A homebuyer's survey covers general condition; ours goes deeper into cracks, movement, and load paths.
- Can you survey before I buy? Absolutely. We do pre-purchase surveys regularly and can coordinate with your solicitor's timeline.
